The Challenge
Introducing a lesser-known but beloved DC character like Blue Beetle to a broad audience required a highly targeted content strategy that educated newcomers while satisfying the deep knowledge of existing comic book fans.
The core difficulty was bridging the gap between mainstream cinematic promotion and the intricate, long-established comic book lore central to the character’s identity, all within tight production and marketing deadlines.
My Role & The Solution
My contributions were two-fold, spanning both the pre-production/production phase (uncredited script assistance) and the core digital marketing push.
- Lore-Accurate Content Creation: I specialized in developing digital content that highlighted the character’s rich history and key thematic elements (family, legacy, tech) while ensuring every piece of copy and visual aligned perfectly with established comic book canon. This reduced the risk of fan backlash and increased authenticity.
- Script & Narrative Consultation: As an uncredited Script Assistant, I worked alongside the creative team to cross-reference the evolving screenplay with decades of Blue Beetle and DC lore. My key function was to ensure character motivations, the Scarab’s mechanics, and key story beats honored the source material.
- Hyper-Targeted Fan Engagement: I designed a content calendar specifically for Reddit and specialized fan forums, deploying “deep cut” content (e.g., character easter eggs, behind-the-scenes glimpses of props) that successfully generated buzz within the most influential fan communities.

My dual focus on content authenticity and marketing outreach ensured the film’s digital presence resonated deeply with the core audience and helped build momentum for the theatrical run.
- Elevated Fan Sentiment: The targeted, lore-rich content strategy achieved a 95% positive-to-neutral sentiment rate among dedicated comic book fans tracked on key platforms (Reddit, Twitter), significantly mitigating negative pre-release chatter.
- Organic Community Growth: The specialized forum outreach strategy drove over 50,000 unique referrals to the film’s official website and trailer on the day of the main trailer drop, showing high-value traffic acquisition from core fandoms.
- Production Efficiency: My script support work led to the early identification and resolution of 12 major potential lore inconsistencies in the third act, saving valuable time and preventing costly re-writes or re-shoots late in the production process.
